Harmonic Laboratory’s approach to music composition is one that blends traditional acoustic elements with emerging electronic techniques and technologies, digital animation, and interactivity. The subject matter of our work often informs the nature of our music creation in that we incorporate the sounds and concepts of our creative endeavors into our music. This could include using digitally modified field samples of live volcanoes for a work on volcanism or determining the tonal centers of a work on electricity by recording the resonant pitches of three burnt light bulbs. We aspire to create non-traditional musical/sonic environments that are informed by and enhance the conceptual focus of each project.
