Project Description

The Color of Sound is a full length concert by the Eugene Symphony that features Alexander Scriabin’s “Prometheus: The Poem of Fire” (Op. 60) for orchestra and color organ. We collaborated with Light At Play to realize Scriabin’s vision of a full color organ –– Light At Play’s Radiance Orb (7′) containing the organ’s “fast” line (performed by Jeremy Schropp) and the performance hall bathed in color operating as the organ’s “slow” line. The work includes additional lighting design and movement to immerse the audience with color. John Park mentored Eugene/Springfield high school and college students for original animations for other works on the program, including Grieg’s Morning Mood, Debussy’s Claire de Lune, and short works by Mendelssohn, Handel, Pärt, and Schuller.
